Washington, D.C.– Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chairs Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) and Rep. Mark Pocan (D-WI), and CPC Peace and Security Taskforce Chairwoman Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) released the following statement regarding news that President Trump ordered the Pentagon to organize a military parade in Washington, D.C., which could cost tens of millions in taxpayer dollars:

“President Trump’s reported ‘military parade’ makes a mockery of our democracy and our institutions. This is the behavior of dictators, not the Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America. Rather than stroke the President’s ego, we should fully fund programs that serve our members of our military, including those that fight veterans’ homelessness, deliver job reentry and training services, and provide health care. We urge our colleagues to take action and block this ridiculous stunt from taking place. Our nation’s troops and the American people deserve better than the equivalent of presidential lip service.”
