Washington DC – The Congressional Progressive Caucus today sent the following recommendation that Members of Congress vote ‘No' on final passage of the FY15 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The recommendation is based on Section 1095, which would block the implementation of President Obama's Executive Order on Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces (E.O. 13673).
WASHINGTON–Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) Co-Chairs Reps. Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ) and Keith Ellison (D-MN) released the following statement after Department of Labor (DOL) Secretary Thomas Perez and President Obama announced the publication of the final rule to raise the overtime threshold to $47,476. The previous threshold was $23,660. According to DOL, the new rule makes 4.2 million more American workers eligible for overtime pay. The Economic Policy Institute estimates it could directly benefit up to 12.5 million workers.

The "Fix96 Resolution" marks 20 years since the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act and the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act were signed into law in 1996, dramatically expanding the criminalization of immigrants by broadening and easing deportation and detainment requirements, removing legal defenses and involving local law enforcement.
